Professor W. Christian Buss, Ph.D.

Professor Emeritus - Marketing

W. Christian Buss, Ph.D. left the School of Business at the State University of New York/University at Albany to concentrate full-time on executive education.  Prior to his departure, the UAlbany President named him to the rank of Professor Emeritus.  He is an adjunct professor at the Smith School of the University of Maryland and a member of the core faculty at the Graduate School of Business Administration in Zurich, Switzerland.  He teaches in executive programs with the University at Albany, the Smith School,  GSBA, Rotterdam School of Management, Leiden University, the Levin Institute and private companies.  His Ph.D. in Marketing is from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is an active international consultant and trainer whose corporate client list is confidential.  He helps U.S. and European companies develop domestic and international strategic opportunities.  He taught the ExportNY program in Albany, NY from 1998-2004. 

 

Buss has received a total of thirteen teaching awards for his programs at various schools.  He was given a Special Recognition Award from the Global Business Network and the Capital Region World Trade Center for his support of international initiatives in the Capital Region of New York in 2004.  His Ph.D. dissertation won first-place as the best dissertation in Marketing from the American Marketing Association in 1980.

 

He is a columnist on global strategy for the American Business Journals, a chain of weekly business newspapers in the United States.  He contributes free-lance articles to a variety of business publications.  Buss is the author of the forthcoming book A Business Professor’s Guide to Practical Living that answers fourteen questions posed by the great philosophers for the business professional.

 

Buss is a proven professor in marketing management, corporate strategy and international business.  He welcomes short-term assignments in the US and abroad in executive, EMBA and MBA programs.
