Ping Ping Fu, PhD

The Chinese University of Hong Kong
Associate Professor of Management


Ping Ping Fu (Ph.D., State University of New York at Albany) is an associate professor of management at the School of Business of the Chinese University of Hong Kong where she teaches courses in Organizational Behavior, Principles of Management, Human Resource management, Negotiation and Leadership.  She has developed and taught courses in those disciplines at the MBA and undergraduate levels, as well as in executive training programs for various large corporations in Mainland China and Hong Kong, including China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom and Manulife (International) Limited.

 

Professor Fu is a member of Academy of Management (since 1995), International Leadership Association (since 2001), Member of the Honor Society of Beta Gamma Sigma (since 1991), and Member of the Academic Advisory Board, the Hong Kong Productivity Council.  As a researcher focusing on cross cultural leadership and value-based leadership, she has published numerous journal articles, research papers, book chapters, and conference presentations in both English and Chinese and has reviewed academic papers for over 15 professional journals in Asia and the US.

 

Her research interests are mostly in leadership areas.  Trained under the leading US leadership researchers, Gary Yukl and Robert House, Professor Fu has been working actively in the leadership field since she earned her degree.  She has been a member of the Global Leadership and Organizational Behavioral Effectiveness (GLOBE) research project team since 1997, serving as the coordinator for the China group. She has led several research projects supported by over a dozen of grants from Hong Kong Research Grants Council or by the Chinese University of Hong Kong over the past ten years.  Research projects she has led include a project on top management teams in Chinese high tech firms, a 12-culture study on influence tactics, a study of Chinese CEOs from 95 firms, and most recently, a study of the CEO personal values and the culture and management systems of their firms. Her work has been published in Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Leadership Quarterly, Management International Review, Organizational Dynamics, Advances in Leadership Research, Advances in Global Leadership, Journal of Asian Businesses, International Journal of Cross Cultural Psychology, European Review of Applied Psychology, International Journal of Human Resources Management, and Asian Pacific Journal of Management. 

 

Prof. Fu began her academic career in China, where she got her B.A. in English Literature and a M.A. in Journalism.  She obtained an MBA and later a PhD. in Organizational Studies in the US.   In addition to teaching and research, Prof. Fu also serves the Chinese University of Hong Kong as Associate Director for the MBA Programs and as an editorial member for the Asia Pacific Journal of Management.  She has also won several BA Faculty teaching awards.
