What he does
Hoffmann is a German citizen with a PhD in Chemical Engineering
from Karlsruhe University who splits his time on the job between
Germany and the United States. He commuted to the OneMBA Program
from both locations.
He designs engines that drive large gas and oil fired power stations.
He manages 200 employees at three locations in Florida and Germany.
And he is responsible for development of a global network for the
business with new partners in the United States, Central Europe,
India and Russia.
"The product is exciting. And the technical envelope is constantly
pushed toward what is presently feasible," Hoffman says. "What more
can an engineer dream of?
"Due to the complex nature of the product, I also support sales
and marketing with regard to customer information sessions," Hoffman
says. "This enables me to get direct feedback from the end customer
on the acceptance of my products in the market."
Most important effect UNC Kenan-Flagler
had upon me
"UNC supplied me with the tools to manage my career successfully."
The results? Better performance on the job. A promotion during the
program. And later this year, Hoffmann will take on an exciting new
assignment - becoming executive director for a heating systems company,
reporting directly to the owner.
