Admission Requirements

Professional Requirements

  • Minimum work experience
You must have at least 7 years of professional work experience, with 10 preferred. Your current or expected global management responsibilities will be considered during the admissions process. We value advanced degrees, but they may not be substituted for professional work experience.
  • Leadership ability
In your current position, you must have middle- or senior-management responsibilities and proven leadership ability. We prefer candidates with experience managing people, but team leadership and management of projects, budgets, or products will also be considered.
  • Communication skills
Your written and verbal communication skills will be assessed through the self-evaluation essays in the application and a personal interview.

Education and Knowledge Requirements
  • College degree
You must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Transcripts and GMAT
We require transcripts of past academic work. The GMAT (Graduate Management Admissions Test) is optional, but highly recommended if your academic record does not show you have strong quantitative skills.
  • Other knowledge
You must have basic knowledge of accounting, statistics, finance and economics. You must also be proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, including financial and statistical functions.
  • Courses to refresh your skills
If your skills are weak, you may want to take one or more undergraduate courses prior to entering the OneMBA program. We also offer UNC Kenan-Flagler Review Workshops in two all-day sessions in Chapel Hill. There is an additional charge for these.
